I've been following Sam's activism in defense of the Constitution since well before he decided to run for Governor, and I had always hoped he would choose to reach for higher office. Sam Rohrer represents ideals that are important to me, and Sam's vision for the future of PA and the USA reflect the place I want my children and grandchildren to live their lives. Now it is time for some hard truth. There was one item in Sam's past that made me pause before volunteering to help with his gubernatorial campaign, and that was the PA Legislature pay raise controversy back in 2005. I did some soul-searching and concluded that everyone does things that can prove to be mistakes, but the real proof of someone's character is how they handle their mistakes. Sam Rohrer could have tried to blame others or make transparent excuses for his pay raise vote, but instead he stood up and took responsibility, and explained that he was forced to make a difficult choice that would have resulted in violating a promise he had given. Sam opted to do the hard thing; he chose to place the integrity of his promise - of his word and character - above the strong likelihood that it would cost him his political career in the next election. When is last time you heard of a politician placing the integrity of a promise above the risk of being re-elected? Please take the time to read about Sam's vision for Pennsylvania.
